Only two months ago, we reported that Google+ was growing but not yet expected to be a major contender against Facebook. In that short amount of time, Google+ traffic has increased 55% and some estimate they will have 400 million users by the end of 2012.
Hoping to be the Facebook killer (as Facebook was to Myspace), there was much hoopla surrounding Google's new venture. It was quickly learned that the general public had no reason to jump ship from Facebook as they, and their friends, already had a place to gather.
Google+ presents a serious competitor to Facebook, which some believed would remain an unchallenged leader in the social media space.
